Empty the Shelters in Chicago

The latest Empty the Shelters campaign has concluded. Thank you to everyone who adopted, fostered, volunteered, shared an animal’s story or supported a participating shelter. Future Chicago-area event dates have not yet been announced.

BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters campaign helps participating shelters place animals in loving homes by supporting reduced-fee adoption events across the country. Chicago Animal Care and Control, The Anti-Cruelty Society and Orphans of the Storm were among the local shelters that participated in the latest campaign.

241 Animals Adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control

Chicago Animal Care and Control reported that 241 animals found homes during the campaign:

  • 87 dogs adopted
  • 154 cats adopted

These adoptions were made possible by the combined efforts of adopters, shelter staff, volunteers, foster families, rescue partners and community members who shared posts and helped introduce homeless animals to potential families.

Although the campaign has ended, animals throughout the Chicago area still need homes. You can continue helping by adopting, fostering, volunteering or sharing an available animal with someone looking for a new companion.
