Volunteer at Chicago Animal Care and Control: Make an Immediate Impact

Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) is the largest open admission shelter in the Midwest, and they depend on volunteers to care for thousands of animals every year. When you volunteer here, you’re directly changing lives.

What You’ll Do

Walk dogs who desperately need exercise and attention. Socialize frightened cats. Help during adoption events. Support the medical team. Work with social media to help animals find homes. Volunteer shifts are available between noon and 7 p.m. most days of the year.

Getting Started

You must be at least 18 years old. Attend a volunteer information session, complete an application and background check, then commit to one day per week or 10 hours monthly. CACC takes in every animal who needs help, regardless of their situation. Your consistent presence and care helps animals heal and prepares them for adoption.
