We are here to help. Even if you are not here to adopt a dog, we can help you foster, rehome or surrender a furry friend to a great home! Our site provides you with resources, options and up to date information on how to navigate important events to assist you with all stages of dog ownership.
Our mission is to save lives by reducing Chicago shelter intakes and increasing dog adoptions with straight-forward resources so you can make informed decisions with the most up to date information and available options.
Our featured dogs come from CACC (Chicago Care and Animal Control) as well as Anti-Cruelty. Those dogs are most at risk as the shelters are often at capacity.
This site does not display ads nor does it accept donations. We simply want to find great homes for at risk dogs in the Chicago area.
Adopt, Foster or Volunteer to Help Chicago Shelter Dogs
If you are considering adopting a dog in Chicago, this is one of the most meaningful times to do it. Shelters and rescue organizations across the city are struggling with overcrowding and limited space, while more dogs continue to arrive every day from neighborhoods throughout Chicago. Many of these animals are healthy, loving pets simply waiting for a family and a fresh start. By choosing adoption, you are not only gaining a loyal companion, but also helping local shelters reduce overcrowding and continue caring for dogs that urgently need support.
Even if you are not ready to adopt, fostering and volunteering can make an enormous impact. Foster homes give dogs a temporary place to feel safe, decompress and prepare for permanent homes, while volunteers help rescues keep up with daily care, events, transportation and community outreach. Every adoption, foster placement and volunteer hour helps strengthen the lifesaving work being done for homeless pets throughout Chicago.
