About Adopt a Dog Chicago

My connection to Chicago’s shelter dogs is personal. I have lived with, helped raise and cared for and loved dogs growing up almost my entire life. From family pets, pets of friends as well as my own companions. I have co-parented a Staffy and I have recently adopted a sweet American Pitbull Terrier whose time was running out – both were adopted from CACC. I have spent hours talking/texting with volunteers, meeting dogs, fellow neighbor dog parents and learning firsthand how stretched the system is and how dire the problem is in Chicago. The capacity issues, the constant intake and the number of great dogs who simply need visibility stayed with me.

I decided to create this website as my way of volunteering – a way to increase adoptions and decrease surrenders without fundraising or a physical presence. I wanted to take the time to do the proper research and use my technology knowledge and marketing skills to strategically present an “animals first” approach with clear, useful information in a way most municipal and nonprofit organizations simply do not have the resources to do and quite frankly are not good at. My goal was to build something that makes things easier for both the dogs and the people trying to help them.

A Different Approach

Adopt A Dog Chicago is not a non‑profit organization. We do not monetize with advertising, nor are we currently accepting donations. We strive to provide clear, accurate, and easy‑to‑use information that helps people in the Chicago area make confident decisions about adoption, fostering, and responsible pet ownership. Our focus is on supporting the dogs, the volunteers, and the community by presenting everything in a straightforward and accessible way.
