Are You Thinking About Adopting Delilah?

Helping Delilah leave the shelter may begin with a simple visit and some time together outside the kennel environment. Some dogs become noticeably more relaxed once they are able to interact with people in quieter surroundings away from the busiest shelter traffic.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, interactions may happen in enclosed outdoor yards or quieter indoor meet and greet rooms depending on conditions that day. Some visitors spend time walking with her while others use treats or toys while getting to know her better.

Volunteers are usually available nearby to answer questions about adoption, fostering, rescue partner placements, and surgery recovery expectations. Spending time together during the interaction often helps visitors imagine what life together outside the shelter could potentially look like.

Some rescue organizations may also help coordinate foster placements for visitors interested in helping her leave the shelter sooner. Foster homes often provide dogs additional time to decompress and settle into calmer daily routines outside the shelter environment.
