Are You Thinking About Adopting Ollie?

Helping Ollie leave the shelter may begin with spending time together during a meet and greet visit outside the kennel area. Some dogs appear noticeably calmer once they are able to interact with visitors in quieter surroundings away from the busiest shelter traffic.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, interactions may happen outdoors in enclosed yards or inside quieter meet and greet rooms depending on weather conditions and shelter activity. Some visitors spend the interaction walking with him while others use treats or toys while getting to know him better.

Volunteers are usually available nearby to answer questions about adoption, fostering, rescue partner programs, and surgery recovery expectations. Spending time together in person often helps visitors better picture what life together outside the shelter could eventually look like.

Some rescue organizations may also help coordinate foster placements for visitors interested in helping him leave the shelter sooner. Foster homes often provide dogs additional time to decompress and settle into more stable routines outside the shelter environment.
