Are You Thinking About Adopting Peony?

To bring Peony home, begin by arranging a meet and greet visit through staff or volunteers at Chicago Animal Care and Control. Spending time together in person usually provides a much more complete understanding of the dog than online profiles alone.

Some interactions happen outdoors in enclosed areas while others happen inside quieter rooms depending on shelter conditions that day. Visitors may spend time walking with him, sitting nearby, or allowing him time to explore the environment during one on one interaction.

Volunteers can explain adoption timing, medical procedures, fostering options, and what remaining steps may still need to happen before Peony is ready to leave the shelter. If surgery is still pending, additional recovery time afterward may delay pickup availability.

For many adopters, the interaction itself becomes the most important part of the decision making process. Watching how the dog responds during direct interaction often answers questions that are difficult to predict ahead of time.
