Are You Thinking About Adopting Pom?

If you are thinking about adopting Pom, meeting him in person at Chicago Animal Care and Control may help you better understand how he responds outside the kennel environment. Some dogs appear much calmer once they are able to spend time with visitors away from the busiest shelter areas.

Depending on conditions that day, interactions may happen outdoors in enclosed yards or inside quieter meet and greet rooms. Some visitors spend time walking with him while others use treats or toys during one on one interaction. Spending time together in person often provides a much clearer understanding of how he behaves in calmer surroundings.

Volunteers are usually available nearby to answer questions about adoption timing, surgery recovery, fostering, and rescue partner involvement. If Pom still needs surgery before going home, he may need additional recovery time afterward before pickup becomes available.

Some visitors arrive planning to adopt while others become interested in fostering after learning more about rescue partner placements during the interaction. Rescue organizations may also provide veterinary care, supplies, and support during foster placement.
