Are You Thinking About Adopting Tonka?
If you are interested in fostering Tonka, volunteers at Chicago Animal Care and Control can explain how rescue partner placements work and what the approval process may involve. Some rescue organizations are able to place holds while foster applications are being reviewed.
Depending on shelter activity and weather conditions, visits may happen in one of the enclosed outdoor yards or inside quieter interaction rooms. Some visitors spend the interaction walking with him while others use treats or toys while observing how he responds once things become calmer.
Foster homes often provide dogs additional time to decompress and settle into routines outside the shelter environment. Rescue organizations may also provide supplies, veterinary support, and guidance during foster placement.
Some foster placements eventually become permanent adoptions while others remain temporary homes until the dog is adopted. Spending time together during the meet and greet often helps visitors decide which option feels like the better fit.
