Are You Thinking About Adopting This dog?

Helping Unknown leave the shelter could start with spending time together during a meet and greet visit at Chicago Animal Care and Control. Some visitors immediately begin imagining what bringing him home might feel like after seeing how he responds outside the kennel environment.

Depending on the interaction, visitors may spend time walking with him, using treats or toys, or relaxing together in one of the quieter interaction areas. Some dogs become more playful once they have room to move around while others simply seem calmer and more comfortable during one on one interaction.

Volunteers are usually nearby to answer questions about adoption procedures, fostering, rescue partner involvement, and surgery recovery expectations. Some rescue organizations may also help coordinate foster placements for visitors interested in helping him leave the shelter sooner.

Watching Unknown settle into the interaction often makes visitors excited about what life together outside the shelter could potentially look like. Spending time together in person frequently gives adopters a much clearer understanding of how the dog behaves once things become calmer.
