Meet Pera the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix 🐾

For many adopters, finally meeting Pera in person is when everything starts to feel real. Spending time together outside the kennel environment often gives people a better understanding of how he behaves once things become calmer and less crowded. Some dogs become more playful during the interaction while others simply seem relieved to relax in a quieter space.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, visits may happen outdoors in enclosed yards or inside quieter interaction rooms depending on the conditions that day. Some people spend the interaction walking with him while others use treats or toys while getting to know him better.

Volunteers can answer questions about adoption procedures, fostering, rescue partner involvement, and what next steps may involve if he still needs surgery before going home. After his procedure, he may need additional recovery time before pickup becomes available.
