Meet Ballad the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix 🐾

To adopt Ballad, visit Chicago Animal Care and Control and ask staff or volunteers about arranging a meet and greet visit. Depending on shelter activity and weather conditions, he may be brought into one of the outdoor interaction yards or a quieter indoor room where visitors can spend time together away from the busiest kennel traffic.

Some adopters spend the visit walking with him while others use treats or toys during the interaction. Spending time together in person often gives people a much clearer understanding of how he responds once things become calmer and less crowded than the kennel area.

If Ballad still needs surgery before adoption can be finalized, he will need recovery time afterward before going home. Volunteers can explain what the process may involve and when adopters can expect pickup to become available.
