My name is Safari and I am a good boy. I am a black American Pit Bull Terrier mix and I was found near 1400 Block W 63rd St in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood. I have been waiting for someone to save me at Chicago Animal Care and Control since June 19. I am homeless and I really need to find my forever home soon. ⏳ Please come and visit me at the shelter. 🙏

Some dogs stay playful and energetic throughout interaction while others prefer calmer engagement and slower interaction with visitors. Outdoor walks, treats, toys, tennis balls, and play areas may sometimes be part of the visit depending on shelter conditions and the dog's personality.
Families with existing pets often ask staff questions about helping dogs adjust gradually after adoption and allowing introductions to happen more comfortably over time.
Fostering Safari may also be an option for people who want to help a shelter dog spend time outside the shelter before permanent adoption.
