Some dogs appear more energetic once they are outside while others become calmer during one on one interaction away from the kennel environment.

Foster homes often provide dogs additional time to decompress and adjust to more stable routines. Rescue organizations may also provide supplies, veterinary care, and support during foster placement.

For visitors who are not ready for permanent adoption, fostering may provide a meaningful way to help Verna leave the shelter sooner while giving her more time to settle into a quieter environment. Some foster placements eventually become permanent adoptions after spending more time together at home.
