Approval timelines vary depending on the rescue involved, although some organizations are able to move more quickly than others.

During the visit, you may spend time together walking, using treats or toys, or simply observing how they responds during one on one interaction. Spending time together in person often gives fosters a much clearer understanding of how the dog behaves once things become calmer and less crowded.

Foster homes can provide dogs additional time to decompress, settle into routines, and adjust to quieter surroundings outside the shelter. Some foster placements eventually become permanent adoptions while others remain temporary placements through rescue organizations.
