Meeting This dog in person may give visitors a completely different impression than reading a short profile or viewing online photos alone. Some dogs become noticeably more relaxed once they are outside the kennel environment and able to interact with people in calmer surroundings.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, meet and greet visits may happen in one of the outdoor interaction yards or inside quieter rooms depending on shelter activity and weather conditions. Some people spend time walking with them while others use toys or treats during one on one interaction.

Volunteers are usually available nearby to answer questions about adoption procedures, fostering, rescue partner involvement, and surgery recovery expectations. If surgery still needs to be completed before adoption, This dog may need recovery time afterward before going home.

Some visitors arrive planning to foster while others become interested in adoption after seeing how they responds during the interaction. Spending time together outside the kennel environment often helps people better picture what life together could eventually look like.
