Meet This dog 🐾

For many visitors, meeting This dog outside the kennel environment completely changes the experience. Some dogs become more playful during one on one interaction while others simply appear relieved to relax in a quieter setting for a while.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, dogs may be brought into outdoor interaction yards or quieter indoor rooms depending on shelter activity and weather conditions. Visitors may spend time walking with them, using treats or toys, or simply sitting nearby while getting to know them better.

Volunteers are usually available to answer questions about fostering, adoption procedures, surgery recovery, and rescue partner programs. Spending time together during the meet and greet often gives people a much better understanding of how they responds outside the shelter environment.

Some visitors arrive planning to foster while others begin considering adoption after the interaction. Watching them relax and interact in calmer surroundings often makes it easier to picture what life together could eventually look like outside the shelter.
