Meet Grandella the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix 🐾

Watching Grandella explore one of the interaction yards at Chicago Animal Care and Control may help visitors imagine what he could be like outside the shelter environment. Some dogs become more playful during one on one interaction while others simply seem relieved to relax in a quieter space for a while.

Some visitors spend the interaction walking with him while others use toys or treats during the visit. Spending time together in person often creates a much clearer understanding of how he behaves once things become calmer and less crowded than the kennel area.

Volunteers can answer questions about adoption, fostering, rescue partner programs, and surgery scheduling during the visit. Rescue organizations may also explain how foster placements work and what support may be available for approved fosters.

For many visitors, meeting Grandella in person becomes the beginning of deciding how they want to help him leave the shelter. Some people begin considering fostering while others focus immediately on adoption.
