Meet Shelby the American Staffordshire Terrier 🐾

Helping Shelby leave the shelter could start with spending time together during a meet and greet visit at Chicago Animal Care and Control. Some visitors immediately begin imagining what bringing her home might look like after seeing how she responds outside the kennel environment.

Depending on the interaction, you may spend time walking together, using treats or toys, or simply relaxing together in one of the quieter interaction spaces. Some dogs become more playful once they have room to move around while others seem calmer and more comfortable during one on one interaction.

Volunteers are usually nearby to answer questions about adoption, fostering, surgery scheduling, and recovery expectations. Rescue organizations may also help coordinate foster placements for visitors interested in helping her leave the shelter sooner.
