Are You Thinking About Adopting Port?

If you would like to bring Port home, visiting him in person can help you decide whether he feels like the right fit for your household and routine. At Chicago Animal Care and Control, visits may happen outdoors in enclosed interaction yards or inside quieter meet and greet rooms depending on conditions that day.

Some dogs settle quickly once they leave the kennel area while others need more time to relax during the interaction. Visitors may spend time walking with him, using treats or toys, or simply getting to know him in a calmer setting away from the busiest shelter traffic.

Volunteers can explain what the adoption process may involve if surgery or recovery still needs to be completed before he is ready to leave the shelter. Recovery timelines may vary depending on scheduling and post procedure care.

Some visitors begin considering fostering after learning more about rescue partner placements during the interaction. Rescue organizations may provide supplies, veterinary support, and guidance throughout foster placement.
