Meet Azana the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix 🐾

To adopt Azana, visit Chicago Animal Care and Control and ask volunteers about arranging a meet and greet visit. Depending on weather conditions and shelter activity, he may be brought into one of the outdoor interaction yards or a quieter indoor room where visitors can spend time together away from the busiest kennel traffic.

Some adopters spend part of the interaction walking with him while others use toys or treats during one on one interaction. Spending time together outside the kennel environment often gives people a much better understanding of how he behaves once things become calmer and less crowded.

Volunteers can explain adoption timing, surgery scheduling, and what recovery may involve if Azana still needs a procedure before going home. Some dogs recover quickly while others may need additional time before pickup becomes available.

Some visitors begin considering fostering after learning more about rescue partner placements during the interaction. Rescue organizations may provide food, supplies, veterinary support, and guidance for approved foster homes.
