Meet Memphis the Labrador Retriever 🐾

For many people, finally meeting Memphis in person is the moment everything starts to feel more real. Some dogs become more playful once they are outside the kennel environment while others simply seem calmer and more relaxed during one on one interaction.

At Chicago Animal Care and Control, visits may happen outdoors in one of the enclosed interaction yards or inside quieter meet and greet rooms depending on weather conditions that day. Some visitors spend time walking with him while others use toys or treats while getting to know him better.

Volunteers can explain adoption procedures, fostering options, and rescue partner programs during the interaction. If Memphis still needs surgery before going home, he may need additional recovery time after the procedure before pickup becomes available.

Some visitors arrive already planning to adopt while others begin considering fostering after spending time together during the interaction. Watching him relax outside the kennel area often gives people a better understanding of what life together could eventually look like.
