Meet Pilot the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix 🐾

To adopt Pilot, visit Chicago Animal Care and Control and ask staff or volunteers about arranging a meet and greet visit. Depending on shelter activity and weather conditions, he may be brought into one of the outdoor interaction yards or a quieter indoor room where visitors can spend time together away from the busiest kennel traffic.

Some adopters spend the interaction walking with him while others use treats or toys during one on one time together. Spending time outside the kennel environment often gives people a much clearer understanding of how he responds once things become calmer and less crowded.

If Pilot still needs surgery before adoption can be finalized, volunteers can explain what recovery may involve and when pickup could become available. Some dogs recover quickly while others may need additional time after the procedure before going home.
